Bright Ideas at the Dallas International Lighting Show
Our kids have never seen a home show they didn’t like. Whether we are discussing the finer points of pavers or studying options for the kitchen countertop, they stand around, poking samples and asking questions. They take too much of an interest, in my opinion, because they have all but signed contracts on everything from a Viking range to an elaborate window covering system that opens and closes at the touch of a button. It’s a good thing we’ve managed to keep them away from the International Lighting Show at the Dallas Market Center. There’s no way we would be able to exit without investing in a beautiful chandelier for each of their rooms.
Dallas is a natural choice for the International Lighting Show. For one thing, it’s conveniently located right there in the middle of the country. More importantly, it’s also the home of the American Lighting Association. That is why, every year, twice a year, in January and June, thousands of lighting industry vendors, buyers and insiders convene at the Dallas Market Center for the Lighting Show. Known as the top show of its kind in the lighting industry, it never ceases to amaze each year. The Market Center’s commitment to the International Lighting Show is evident; it has even been called the International Home of Lighting. Over one million square feet of floor space is dedicated to the show. Included are lighting, accessories and resources from every major manufacturer. This offers buyers a one-stop shopping experience for all of their lighting needs, both residential and commercial.
Lighting at the International Lighting Show is grouped into one of five categories: Accessories, Ceiling Fans, Chandeliers, Fixtures, and Outdoor. Each category features a comprehensive assortment of merchandise from hundreds of lines. For example, buyers seeking chandeliers will find all of the top brands represented, including Minka Lavery, Feiss Lighting, Hinkley Lighting and Hudson Valley Lighting.
