Comments about Emerson CF955WW, Midway Eco Appliance White Energy Star 54:
This is one powerful fan! I installed this in my spare room of my house. This fan is like a helicopter: it's silent except for wind noise on higher speeds, moves a ton of air, and makes a whooshing sound on higher speeds. I definitely don't use all six speeds, only the first three, as the higher speeds blow papers around too much. The DC motor saves me money when it comes to the amount of energy it uses to run it, and it runs all day during the warmer summer months. The remote control is foolproof and easy to use, and the LED lights on the remote control indicate the current settings of the fan. The blades are made of high-impact, textured plastic so they won't droop if the fan is placed outdoors (my fan isn't, of course). The light kit is very bright, despite it is only two bulbs in a single dome. It was also very easy to install, as I had it up in about an hour. I love the Midway DC Eco, it's one of the best fans I have installed in my house! (:

Nice elegant design in white. Professional electrician installed so I don't know difficulty. Cons would include, exclusive control through the hand device, so even though the wall switch is 'on', the fan and light do not come on until switched on the hand controller. That means that if the batteries or hand controller go out, you can't operate this fan. Second, if I recall there was one light option (halogen?). Halogen I'm familiar with are hot and energy hogs. It would be nice to offer different or more energy efficient light (LED/LCD) options. Meeting these two options would have made it a good buy.
very well made

actually the higher speed settings are too much for an ordinary roomi guess it should be mounted on a ceiling at least 9feet high
Very good fan, minor quality issues

Comments about Emerson CF955BS, Midway Eco Brushed Steel 54" Ceiling Fan with Light & Remote Control:
This is the second Emerson Eco that my wife and I have bought. We bought the first one from Delmar a year ago and were thrilled with it. Extremely quiet and well balanced, and of course energy efficient. Every professional that saw it was impressed how there was no wobble at all (on a 4 foot rod).We then ordered this one for our kitchen and had it installed a month ago.It is equally as quiet but there were a couple of areas where I was not as impressed as the first one:1. It has a slight wobble. Every professional I have talked to has said to not waste time trying to balance a fan like this - it is very time consuming. The wobble is not terrible - don't notice it until about the #4 speed setting, and then it is only minor. But we were spoiled by the first one and expected more, especially at this cost.2. The decorative metal shroud around it is slightly out of round and wobbles when it rotates. You only notice it when the fan is rotating and you can see it wobble. When stationary, you cannot tell. This is unrelated to the fan wobble as it is purely decorative. We considered asking for a new one under warranty, but it would be a pain to change (blades have to come off etc.). That being said it works fine and we would buy another if we needed one. You cannot beat the efficiency, and the styling is very nice and modern, and overall I am impressed by their engineering.

Costs a lot but well worth it! Looks great and works even better. Moves a lot of air if needed. Love the six speeds. Have it in a large bonus room with southwest exposure...gets lots of heat. Really helps keep room comfortable and reduces AC costs. Max speed only draws 17 watts.

I down loaded the manual before ordering the fan. This gave me the dimensions and I then knew to order a extension which lowered the fan to the optimum 7 ft from a vaulted ceiling. I couldn't be happier with the performance of the fan.
This fan is a great product. We had an electrician install it in our living room. It is very quiet and wobble-free. The electrician who installed it (and installs many fans) was very impressed how well balanced it was.It also looks great - very modern looking, and of course, per the specs, is super-efficient.It has 6 speeds. The lower speeds are very slow - probably just suitable for when you run it in reverse in the winter. In the summer we use speeds 4, 5, and 6 only. On speed 4 you hear no noise at all. On 5 and 6 you hear some air movement, but it is still very quiet. At the same time we installed a lower quality (smaller) fan in our den and the quality difference is huge. That fan wobbles even after spending a long time balancing it.I highly recommend the Emerson Eco - we are probably going to buy another one for our kitchen before next summer.

*product looks very well built and functions well*installing with the shortest optional downrod is impossible without modifying some parts*surprising to find the blades are made of plastic and not metal*silent function and efficient airflow*powerful lighting*flimsy but effective remote control
GREAT FAN- WORKS BEAUTIFULLY-

Fan used in addition to AC. Great fan, quiet worth every penny.
Very nice fan
Very nice fan. Completely silent and very well balanced. Assemblyand installation was quite straight-forward [other than the muckingabout in the attic to replace the ceiling box with a fan-rated one --but that wasn't Emerson's fault].It has one annoying quirk that cost it a star in my rating: when youturn on the power at the wall, it takes the light several seconds tocome on. This isn't the CFL warm-up/startup time either -- theprovided CFL bulbs come on instantly when you turn them on via theremote. It seems to take the fan several seconds to "boot up" whenpower is applied before it remembers that the light is supposed to beon.Sometimes when you turn on the wall switch, the light immediatelyflashes on very briefly, then goes off for the usual 3-second "bootup" time before the fan gathers its wits and decides to turn it backon. That seems like a very obvious and rather amateurish design flaw in anotherwise well-designed fan.It would have been nice if the fan had a three-wire wall-controlleroption, since I do have an extra wire running from the switch box toceiling box. It's not a feature I would expect to find on a cheap fanfrom [@], but on a high-end product like this Emerson fan, itseems like an omission.
