Light Up Your Rooms with Halogen Bulbs
Halogen light bulbs are a popular choice for lighting, as they are brighter and more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, yet less expensive than fluorescent light bulbs. Halogen bulbs are commonly used in automobiles, theaters, airplanes, photographic lighting, and in households due to their durability and long-lasting features. A halogen light bulb lasts up to three times longer than a traditional bulb and can produce up to 50 percent more light using the same amount of energy. The halogen light bulb also produces the purest light, making tasks such as reading much easier.
The halogen bulb was invented by scientists at the General Electric Company in 1953. They found by using a minimal amount of iodine gas within the halogen lighting bulb would cause a sublimation process. Inside the bulb, the tungsten filament would begin to evaporate. This would then combine with the iodine gas before re-depositing back into the original tungsten filament. This process that occurs within halogen light bulbs is known as the regenerative cycle. Due to the halogen regenerative cycle, the tungsten filaments found within each light bulb halogen product lasts much longer than in traditional incandescent bulbs.
Halogen light bulbs are able to operate at higher temperatures than standard light bulbs, allowing them to create more light with the same amount of energy. When light bulbs halogen products are operated at a higher temperature, they also produce light using a hotter color temperature. This makes the use of (halogen light bulbs) more similar to that of daylight than any other type of electric lighting. The two most common types of halogen bulbs include the A-Line and the Parabolic Aluminized Reflectors (PAR). The A-Line has all the advantages of the halogen, including good color and longlife. A PAR 30 lamp is commonly used outdoors for spotlighting or as floodlights.
