I use this fan in my office. It is in a part of the house where our central air isn't the greatest. In the summer it does a great job moving the air around and in the winter it keeps my office warm by my reversing the blade direction and keeping the warm air from rising.
I use it over my desk and I'd have liked the lighting to be a little better, but that really doesn't take away from a great fan.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
