Great Fan, Poor Light

    Comments about Minka-Aire F594-PW, Traditional Concept Pewter Hugger 52" Outdoor Ceiling Fan with Light & Control:

    I installed this fan in my bedroom. I liked the brushed nickel finish and the hugger mount. This was BY FAR the easiest ceiling fan I have ever installed and I installed it by myself. Every piece of the install was well thought out and the directions were crystal clear. However, the 100 halogen bulb that comes with this lamp is frosted and the globe is frosted. The combination of those two elements makes the light output truly pathetic (like 40 watt bare bulb). I went to my local lighting store and purchased a 150 watt non-frosted halogen replacement bulb and while the light out is better, its no where close to the two 52 watt flourescent bulbs that were in the bedroom. I would like to go to a 200 watt non-frosted bulb but I am concerned about the extra heat it would generate possibly causing the globe to break. Also, the extra current draw on the wiring may cause a potentional fire hazard within the fan itself.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
