Installed for air circulation in an 8x20 ft four seasons sun porch, for which it works well. Exceptionally quiet motor, especially on the two slower speeds where many inexpensive fans make annoying electrical humming or wah-wah sounds. The only sound with this fan is gentle and soothing air noise. The fan also starts promptly, even on low speed. The appearance is attractive, but of course that's in the eye of the beholder. Minka makes many different models to choose from. Lighting quality from the built-in and dimmable halogen lamp should be considered as utilitarian rather than desirable or attractive. However the light fixture portion of the fan is unobtrusive when not turned on.Installation is straightforward, especially if you've done a ceiling fan before. The supplied instructions are fairly good, with clear diagrams and only a couple of minor text errors. It's a quibble, but there are several exposed screws at the ceiling that would look better had they been supplied painted to match the case colour. The fan comes with a wall-box mounted, wired speed/light control. In my opinion the $35 optional handheld remote is much more useful. The instructions do not explain that with the handheld remote you can omit installing the wall control altogether if you choose. That's what I did, keeping an existing on/off wall switch and relying on the handheld for fan control. I really like the absence of those dangling pull-chains that afflict most fans. The handheld controls everything: 3-speeds, reversing, light dimming, on/off.In summary this is a high quality fan for a reasonable, mid-range price. Once you've tried one you'll never buy another of those $100 home store fans again.

We had three installed; two in bedrooms and one in the family room. They look awesome. The low setting is enough air so far and they are so quiet. We have a condo with low ceiling and this is exactly what we needed.

We have two of these fans under our patio. They give of a nice breeze to keep us cool and the tiny lights are amazingly bright! Plus they look awesome. They haven't been installed long, so far we are really happy with them.An electrician installed ours so no idea how hard it was to install. However I will say, make sure you use one wall control switch per fan!

I'll be buying more

I replaced an older, noisy fan in a living area with the Minka-Aire F594-ORB a couple weeks ago. I have now reaffirmed that spending a litte more $ in order to get a higher quality fan is a smart move. The M-A is a beautiful fan, but what really matters is the performance; the 100W halogen light is actually sufficient to be useful for reading (as opposed to many fans that only provide a little accent light), and the fan itself is really powerful, moves a LOT of air, and is extremely quiet. With both wall-mount and handheld remote controls, its operation is very convenient. The performance of this fan has prompted me to consider replacing four or five of my other older ceiling fans with the M-A F594-ORB. I am not easy to impress, but I'm very satisfied with this beautiful, powerful fan.
Bought Three-- Love them All
By DC Book Angel

These were easy to install-- the rooms are 10x10 (2) and 11x17 respectively and the air circulates in all three very well. We wanted to have a way to improve the cool without any additional a.c. and these work. They also look nice. They came well packed. Our only concern is how hard it has been to get through to a sales person to talk about buying an extra remote after the fact.
