At Del Mar Fans & Lighting, we value the health and safety of our employees and customers. During these uncertain times, we wanted to take the time to let you know the steps we took at the start of the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) and how we are continuing to handle it at our headquarters.

A lot of changes happened in March. One of the key activities that took place was on March 17th, where we decided that in order to maintain safety, we began setting up staff remotely ending with 65% of our staff working remotely. The remaining employees were either unable to perform their jobs remotely or chose to continue to work at the facility while social distancing from other on-site employees.
In the last week of March, we decided to be proactive and send out regular weekly emails (2-3 per week) to employees and staff regarding any updates surrounding COVID-19, our vendors' operations, and full transparency into our business operations.
While some may see this as over-communicating, we’d rather err on the side of caution and be an annoyance rather than risk anyone’s health and safety. In addition to that, we’ve sent out an employee survey to get their input on how they feel about coming back to the office.
As employees choose to start working from the office again, we are taking precautionary measures to ensure everyone’s safety. This includes employees, delivery drivers, and maintenance staff. We are doing our best to stay up to date and in compliance with the CDC for COVID-19 as different guidelines are announced. Since the information about Coronavirus changes daily, we may make some changes along the way.
Below are some of the new measures we have in place and request employees and guests to adhere to:
- Disinfecting common use areas and doorknobs twice daily.
- Cleaning and disinfecting the entire facility once a week.
- We have hand sanitizer bottles located throughout the building in all common areas, meeting rooms, as well as available to everyone at their desk.
- We have disposable face masks available for free for those that would like to wear them while they are at the facility.
- If employees are not feeling well, we ask that they do not come to the facility as we plan to send home any team members that have cold or flu like symptoms immediately.
Vendor & Outside Operations
Some of our vendors closed their offices for a few weeks to evaluate the situation, but we are proud to say that we have not seen any delay in fulfillment of our vendors’ products. From the start, we’ve met or beat expectations when it came to on-time delivery, customer service, and other valuable operations that, we as a small business, know are important to our customers.
In fact, we were able to deliver our high-quality products faster than Amazon early in the crisis due to the fact that Amazon prioritized essential items. We strive to continue to show the value of choosing a small business like ours to our existing and new customers during, after, and beyond this world-wide crisis.
