Do you know how to select the right downrod for your fan? Ceiling fan downrods are metal poles that can stabilize the appliance while in use. Concurrently, they are instrumental in allowing for optimal airflow by preserving a space between the appliance and the ceiling. A typical ceiling fan extension rod places the fixture between eight and ten inches from the ceiling. However, there is some more space you can work with.

Exchanging Standard Ceiling Fan Downrods

Most appliances come with a short downrod that measures about three to six inches. It assumes that the room has a standard height of eight or nine feet. However, manufacturers also make specialty fan downrod lengths to 72 inches. But before you choose a length based on aesthetics, remember that the space between ceiling and fan housing must be optimal to maximize cooling. For example, a 12-inch down rod for ceiling fan appliances with nine-inch blades works well.

Can you change the overall atmosphere of your rooms with these types of accessories? When you combine new ceiling fan blade kits in different colors with other optional accessories, it is possible to not just change the look of the space but also the style of the appliance. For example, add light cages for an industrial look. Other fan accessories are aimed at convenience, such as remote controls.
