The world around us seems to be suffering from an energy crisis and, as a result, we wanted to find a way to give our community a much needed boost of energy efficiency.
Bright Idea
This Fall, we are inviting locals to exchange their old, energy guzzling light bulbs with newer, more energy efficient light bulbs at our first Bulb Drive Exchange supported by ENERGY STAR. Why? Because not all light bulbs are created equal. Not only will making this small switch save you money by reducing your monthly electricity bill, but it will also help reduce overall energy waste and light pollution, which are detrimental to our planet. Switching to energy efficient light bulbs such as LEDs and CFLs:
- Saves you about $6 a month in electricity costs
- Uses about 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last much longer
- Produces about 75% less heat, reducing energy costs associated with home cooling and making them, overall, safer options
Did You Know?
In 2007 the Energy Independence and Security Act (ESIA) was signed into law, requiring light bulbs to meet strict energy efficient standards. As of July 7, 2014, the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) stated that, “The lightbulb energy efficiency standards are already saving consumer, business, and industrial customers billions on their utility bills while reducing pollution and creating new jobs.”

We want your old light bulbs! This fall, Del Mar Fans & Lighting and ENERGY STAR will make your day a little bit brighter by hosting our first Bulb Drive Exchange. As a thank you to our wonderful network of loyal customers and supportive community, we will be giving out one ENERGY STAR bulb at no cost in exchange for one of your inefficient light bulbs. Come support our cause on October 25, 2014 and help make a difference in our community and our environment by making the switch. *Limit one bulb per household.
